The Adonis Trail is the Aphrodite Trail's wilder twin — it sets off from the same spot at the Baths of Aphrodite, then climbs higher and loops longer through the untamed heart of the Akamas peninsula, rewarding the effort with some of the finest sea views in Cyprus.

What you'll see

  • Starts at the legendary Baths of Aphrodite, where the goddess is said to have bathed
  • Shares its opening with the Aphrodite Trail before branching into a longer, quieter loop
  • Pyrgos tis Rigainas — the ruins of a medieval monastery shaded by a giant ancient oak
  • Sweeping panoramas over Chrysochou Bay and the Polis coastline
  • Classic Akamas wild country: juniper, pine and wild olive, with moufflon on the slopes
The Adonis Trail

The walk

From the Baths of Aphrodite the path climbs steadily through the trees, following the same line as the Aphrodite Trail at first.

Higher up it reaches Pyrgos tis Rigainas — a ruined monastery beside a huge, centuries-old oak, a natural place to rest in the shade.

From there the Adonis loop swings away on its own longer circuit, opening to big views over the bay before descending back to the coast.

Getting there

The trailhead is at the Baths of Aphrodite car park at the end of the road west of Polis — the same start as the Aphrodite Trail. Get directions →

Good to know before you go

There is little shade on the higher, open sections, so carry plenty of water and a hat, and start early in summer. Sturdy shoes help on the stony climbs. The Baths of Aphrodite car park has a café and toilets at the trailhead.
