From Cyprus’s first escape room to a whole island to explore

SmileTrails began with someone who knew the island better than the map does. Our founder spent years working as a fixer on films and adverts shot across Cyprus — the person productions call when they need the perfect location, the road that isn’t signposted, or the local who holds the key. Years of that teach you something simple but powerful: every place has a story, if you know how to unlock it.

In 2015 that love of place became ClueJob — Cyprus’s very first escape room: a room full of clues and a ticking clock. For two years, teams came to solve it, race it and beat it, earning a perfect 5.0 on TripAdvisor and a Travellers’ Choice award — and proving that people love figuring out a place together.

ClueJob closed its doors at the end of 2016, but the idea never did. It grew into team-building games, children’s entertainment and live events across the island — and, eventually, into one simple thought: what if the whole of Cyprus could be the game board?

Today, SmileTrails starts with the part that should always be free — honest, local trail guides to the island’s best walks, from sea caves to mountain waterfalls, each with maps, stories and the things only a local would tell you. Alongside them, our Eat & Drink picks point you to the tavernas, the seafood and the coffee we actually send friends to. And the ClueJob magic isn’t gone — it’s coming back outdoors, as self-guided quests that turn a walk through a village or an ancient city into a story to solve. Those are on their way.
