Paphos Castle & Harbour
A medieval fort guarding a harbour that has seen three thousand years of history.
The stout little castle at the end of Paphos harbour has been a Byzantine fort, a Lusignan castle, a Venetian tower and an Ottoman stronghold in its time. Around it the harbour lines up with fishing boats and tavernas, and just behind lies the mosaic-filled Kato Paphos Archaeological Park.
What you'll see
- The medieval harbour castle and its rooftop views
- The working fishing harbour and waterfront tavernas
- The Roman mosaics of the Archaeological Park nearby
- The UNESCO World Heritage setting of Kato Paphos
- Sunset over the boats and the castle

The walk
Stroll the harbour front out to the castle, climb to its roof for the view along the coast, then loop back past the tavernas. If you have time, continue into the Archaeological Park behind the seafront to see the famous mosaics.
Getting there
In Kato Paphos, a few minutes from the town centre, with parking near the harbour. The castle has an admission fee, and the Archaeological Park is a separate ticket. Get directions →
Good to know before you go
Combine the castle with the mosaics for a satisfying half-day. There is little shade on the harbour front, and the area is at its liveliest in the evenings.
